Who They Are
The Frequency Coordination System Association (FCSA) is a Canadian non-profit corporation formed in 1983. It represents an association of leading organizations that own and operate microwave radio, wireless, and satellite communication systems across Canada. FCSA was originally known as the Canadian Telecommunications Carriers Association (CTCA) before rebranding to its current form. It operates a specialized computing and database facility along with a microwave information coordination system (MICS) software tool to support its members in system design and planning.
What They Do
Maintain a Trusted Technical Infrastructure
FCSA administers the MICS platform, which includes a comprehensive database containing over 140,000 terrestrial microwave station records and over 3,000 satellite earth station records, including many systems along the Canada–U.S. border.
Facilitate Frequency Coordination and Interference Analysis
FCSA provides a centralized forum where member organizations coordinate microwave radio systems efficiently and effectively, minimizing interference and optimizing spectrum utilization. It also offers radio frequency interference analysis services to non-member organizations in Canada using the same rigorous MICS tools.
Provide Engineering Support and Training
The association ensures its members have access to standardized coordination procedures, system enhancements, and expert guidance on RF matters and MICS operations.
Support Governance & Collaborative Innovation
FCSA is governed by a board of directors and supported by management, technical, and operations groups to ensure system integrity, technological updates, and streamlined coordination workflows.
